Who/What/Where is Chicago Golf Gals (CGG)? Hear from some of our members:
“To me, CGG means meeting new women, enjoying a sport with them and creating friendships that translate outside of just golf.”
“CGG is a place for me to keep my grandfather’s memory alive! He taught me how to golf and was always my biggest fan, but after moving to Chicago, I didn’t have anyone to play with and didn’t love the idea of going out and joining a random group. Playing golf brings up so many happy memories for me and I missed it for a long time. I’m so glad to be part of this community of like-minded women and excited to have so many new golf buddies!”
Chicago Golf Gals hit the landscape of the Chicagoland area back in June of 2023, and has been skyrocketing ever since. The women’s golf world has already been lacking the recognition deserved but also missing a sense of community that empowered women to take a crack at hitting the greens or even rediscovering their love for the game that once took up all their childhood. The atmosphere needed an awakening, one that would call for others to step forward and embrace a community that had wide open arms here in Chicago.
Roje Zamora, founder and CEO of Chicago Golf Gals, recognized that there weren’t enough women being represented in the golf world and wanted to open up opportunities for those of all ages to learn, grow in, and unleash the possibilities of the golf world. Starting with golf volunteer opportunities, range meet-ups, and small outings, CGG found their people and the community followed.
Sealed with love on Valentine’s Day of 2024, Chicago Golf Gals became an official 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, growing the opportunities by ten-fold but also relying on the generosity of sponsors, partners and esteemed golf facilities to continue supporting the mission of CGG by bringing golf into the lives of women of all ages with accessible events and activities, all while championing, teaching, and creating a space for female golfers.
“This started as an observation that there was a lack of female representation in general, but most importantly here in Chicago,” said Zamora. “But it’s grown to be so much more than that, and it’s an absolute need for these opportunities to be brought to the table, we are determined to do that through Chicago Golf Gals.”
Not even a year old, the association has hosted clinics, outings, leagues, lessons, socials, networking, fundraising and volunteer opportunities for women all over the Chicagoland area. This is just the start as we continue to foster new, creative, and exciting opportunities for all through the sport of golf that will empower women of all generations.
